A combination of music and spoken word poetry. I will be releasing my debut album 'Dying & Rising' this year, which will combine electronica, folk music of the British Isles interspersed with spoken word poetry layered with field recording based composition.
The themes of the work expand the idea of Dying & Rising to refer to the climate crisis. The work poses open-ended questions as to whether our current extractive society can be revolutionised or whether the rapidly changing climate will bring about a more cataclysmic period of global destruction and transformation.

Catch this walkabout piece and meet our ensemble as they travel around the city centre. They'll paint your portrait, guide you around their alternative art gallery or even use you as inspiration for their next masterpiece!

Jenna Kearns is a disabled welsh singer/songwriter from south wales. Writing since she was a teenager, Jenna’s songs have grown in strength and maturity over the years due to life events. Including songs like ‘Time Has Passed’ ‘featured on Dance Moms’, ‘Thank You’, or her latest singles ‘Hear Me’ & ‘Almost A year’ her songs explore many themes such as friendships, betrayal, mental health and even medical trauma.

'The Alien', who is somewhat shy, would love to meet you! Having travelled to earth for the first time, our inquisitive friend creates a small monument for The Place. Despite the alien's shyness, they would love you to help them in their creation! Designed and handmade by our Youth Arts Collective, The Alien has been created following a term exploring puppetry creation and technique.

Our journey is perilous; our rivers are polluted and muddy. Together as a school of mighty fish we follow the wise salmon through darkness with the hope of returning our rivers to their thriving beauty and welcoming back Mabon!

Come make your own Salmon puppet (all abilities welcome!), then join our shoal of fish, led by our Giant Eog Puppet, as we parade through the streets of Newport towards the River Usk.

As we enter the light half of the year, we question the role of rurality and its rituals in a city, imagining a world where they coexist. Using OST’s methodology, we engage the local community to bring this story to life.

A play about flocks and belonging – and assaults that cut us out of the flock. How do you become a part of when you are too afraid to look anyone in their eyes anymore?

Against the backdrop of 90’s subculture, questions of truth, reality, power, and ancestral suffering arise as Jesse seeks a rash solution to an inescapable problem.

Let this workshop guide you in embracing nature’s energy and the changing seasons, especially Spring’s renewal. Open to all—no experience needed. Families welcome. Enjoy refreshments, and feel free to bring homemade cakes to share.

This piece explores my return to the highwire after trauma, navigating changed physicality and mindset. It delves into female empowerment, channeling anger at ongoing violence against women while celebrating circus as a rare art form that has long embraced women’s strength, autonomy, and the power to own their bodies.

Seagulls Over Newport is a two part performance piece, exploring the bird life in our city with irreverence and physical comedy, showcasing Newport's unmistakable style of story telling. Weaving spoken word, multi media, and binoculars alongside the monologue of Craig, an opinionated, hench, seagull from 'The Port'.

Working together, you will then create a new myth that engages with the humour of resilience and explores alternative futures for our society. Adam will type up the myth for you to take home. At the end of the festival, a collection of the new myths will be made into a pamphlet and shared in a storytelling performance.
